About The Position

This full-time Senior Metallurgical Manager opportunity is a critical technical leadership position at an established, dual-process foundry leader specializing in both sand and investment casting. The company is currently in an exciting rebuilding and rebranding phase, re-strategizing to dominate high-growth markets like nuclear and military products. This is a "low-red-tape" environment where the investment group is actively funneling money back into technology and employee development. If you are a hands-on technical leader with an "eager, dive-in" personality and a passion for metallurgy, this is your chance to lead a team in a facility that pours over 250 different alloys and values 10-year average employee tenures.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy or Metallurgical Engineering (or a related Engineering/Industrial field)
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in steel manufacturing, with a strong preference for casting or forging environments
  • Proven leadership ability, with a few years of management experience and the desire to mentor a technical team in a fast-paced setting
  • Technical knowledge of quality management systems and compliance requirements for Nuclear, Military, Aerospace, and PED sectors
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Statistical Process Control (SPC), Design of Experiments (D.O.E.), and Lean/Six Sigma methodologies
  • An "eager to dive in" personality with the flexibility to adapt your schedule to the needs of the foundry pours
  • Residency within 45–60 minutes of the Milwaukee area
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder

Responsibilities

  • Direct all chemical and mechanical laboratory operations, ensuring accurate, timely, and economical metallurgical services to support foundry and machine shop production
  • Lead a specialized technical team, providing direct supervision and mentorship to the Metallurgical Engineer, Process Engineer, and Metal Lab technicians
  • Establish and optimize melting and heat-treating practices, defining analytical methods and determining dispositions for any out-of-specification heats
  • Oversee comprehensive process control testing for sand and investment casting, including SPC charting of sands, slurries, and coatings to improve overall quality
  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert, providing metallurgical assistance to resolve quality issues and offering high-level support to customers and sales teams
