The Inventory Planning team is responsible for sales forecasts and optimal inventory, receipt, and assortment recommendations. The Senior Merchandise Planner partners with the merchants to build a product strategy that achieves the corporate sales and margin goals.

Requirements

  • Analytical and critical thinking; ability to make recommendations supported by data and qualitative information.
  • Strong communication skills (interpersonal, relationship-building) with a well-developed ability to speak, read, and write, including writing clear and concise business communication.
  • Time management and problem-solving skills; ability to multi-task and cope with conflicting constraints.
  • 8-10 years of merchandise planning experience preferred.
  • Self-motivation; able to independently identify what needs to be done, and then act.
  • Must be dependable and team-oriented.
  • Develop tools and training sessions with Planning & Merchandising Teams.
  • Step in as leader for Planning Manager as needed.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, expertise with Excel and Word.
  • Working knowledge of SAP Business ByDesign or another ERP system.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain sound SKU level forecasts, inclusive of units, sales dollars, and margin. Identifies trend changes and impacts to business.
  • Collaborate with buyers and operations on launch buys. Balance open-to-buy receipts between launch and existing product.
  • Manage liquidation strategies to optimally sell through discontinued inventory.
  • Drive markdown strategies to achieve inventory turn targets.
  • Work with leadership in identifying targets for pre-season and in-season.
  • Highlight business opportunities and risks associated with the current performance of the business.
  • Present business trends and forecast to management in monthly Open-to-Buy meeting, weekly business review, and quarterly Investment Reviews & hindsights.
  • Implement category open-to-buy and train teams on best OTB practices.
