About The Position

The Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) for Rare Disease at Amgen serves as a primary scientific resource for healthcare providers and decision-makers in Arizona and Southern California. This field-based role focuses on implementing Amgen's medical strategy, engaging with opinion leaders, and enhancing patient outcomes through scientific exchange and collaboration. The MSL will also support research initiatives and contribute to the company's mission of serving patients with serious illnesses.

Requirements

  • Doctorate degree & 2 years of MSL experience
  • Master's degree & 6 years of Medical Affairs experience
  • Bachelor's degree & 5 years of Medical Affairs experience & 8 years of MSL experience
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Pharm.D., Ph.D., M.D. or D.O. (other doctoral degrees considered)
  • 7+ years in a medically related field, including 1 year focused on clinical practice or research
  • 2+ years in a medical science liaison role in a biotech or pharmaceutical company
  • Experience in Rheumatology, Nephrology, Autoimmune Diseases, and/or Rare Disease.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary scientific/clinical resource to Opinion Leaders and healthcare providers.
  • Engage with Population Health Decision Makers to communicate scientific data.
  • Conduct in-depth scientific exchanges to provide balanced clinical information.
  • Support Amgen-sponsored research and may serve as a study lead.
  • Liaise with potential investigators in non-sponsored clinical research.
  • Provide field observations and insights to inform Amgen strategies.
  • Lead and support congress activities aligned with strategy.
  • Support speaker training and ensure speakers are updated on new data.
  • Participate in project teams that support MSL strategies and tactics.
