About The Position
The Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a critical role within the US therapeutic area medical unit team at Takeda Pharmaceuticals, primarily focused on the field of Gastroenterology. This position is remote and requires a strong external customer-facing approach, as the MSL will be responsible for analyzing, interpreting, and disseminating scientific data to healthcare professionals (HCPs) and key opinion leaders (KOLs). The MSL will also acquire and translate customer insights, foster external expert networks, and compliantly connect customers to Takeda to advance medical strategy and improve patient outcomes. The ideal candidate will reside in the Philadelphia area, as the territory includes Pennsylvania. In this role, the MSL will spend a significant portion of their time—at least 80%—engaging in KOL and HCP-related activities. Building and maintaining professional relationships with KOLs and HCPs is essential, as is demonstrating advanced knowledge of Takeda's disease areas and products, as well as the competitive landscape. The MSL will analyze and interpret complex scientific information and communicate it to KOLs and HCPs in a compliant and balanced manner. Additionally, the MSL will support Takeda-sponsored research and facilitate strategically aligned medical collaborative studies and investigator-initiated research processes. The MSL will also be responsible for collecting and interpreting medical insights from KOLs and HCPs to inform and refine medical strategies and tactics. Participation in medical conferences, responding to unsolicited HCP medical information inquiries, and completing all required documentation and administrative responsibilities in a timely and compliant manner are also key components of this role. The MSL will report directly to the Director of MSL and will be expected to execute medical strategies effectively within defined timelines and quality standards.
