The Opportunity This position works out of our Columbus, OH location in the Nutrition Division . In Research & Development, our ambition is providing innovative high-quality products, creating sustainable value, delivering superior user experience, and enhancing health outcomes at all stages of life. Primary Function: As an experienced individual contributor in Medical Safety & Surveillance (MSS), independently collects, assesses and processes safety related information, ensuring compliance with applicable policies, procedures and regulatory requirements. In addition, supports the team in establishing and monitoring product safety profiles for Abbott Nutrition products and assists with medical safety related analysis, assessments and reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with related health science background.
  • 3+ years of clinical and/or other related experience and at least 2 years of related industry experience.
  • Higher education may compensate for years of experience.
  • Computer proficient (Windows, Word, Excel) and proficient in specific adverse event databases.
  • Presents solid medical and scientific data orally and in writing.
  • Understanding of products including their safety profiles.

Nice To Haves

  • Assists with the integration of domestic and global regulations and current clinical practices in the evaluation/assessment of business processes, product safety issues, and adverse events.

Responsibilities

  • Independently collect, assess and process adverse event information in a compliant and timely manner in order to meet applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Generate, track, and resolve adverse event follow-up correspondence.
  • Mentor new MSS staff and assist others on the team as needed.
  • Independently complete MSS related analyses, reports, and/or projects as assigned, e.g., review and analysis of medical complaint data and/or completion of medical safety assessments.
  • Clearly present MSS related analyses, reports, and/or assessments orally and/or in writing within and outside of MSS.
  • Participates as the MSS representative on cross-functional teams/projects as assigned.
  • Support overall department strategy, including proactive initiation of continuous improvement projects/activities.
