We are seeking an experienced Senior Medical Lab Scientist to serve as a technical leader within a high-performing, 24/7 laboratory environment. In this advanced role, you’ll not only perform and interpret complex laboratory testing, but also drive excellence across daily technical operations. You’ll play a critical role in staff training and development, implementation of new instrumentation, quality and accreditation readiness, and continuous performance improvement. This position is ideal for a seasoned lab professional who thrives in leadership, values precision, and is passionate about advancing patient care through laboratory science. The Senior Medical Lab Scientist performs complex laboratory testing and interprets test results using scientific knowledge of laboratory procedures and disease processes. This role provides technical leadership within the laboratory, including oversight of daily operations, staff training and education, instrumentation implementation, and accreditation readiness. The Senior Medical Lab Scientist plays a key role in maintaining quality, compliance, and operational excellence in a 24/7 laboratory environment. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemical Science, Medical Technology, or related field
  • Certification: ASCP required

Responsibilities

  • Perform and interpret laboratory testing; recommend and evaluate contingency testing as appropriate
  • Lead and manage daily technical laboratory operations
  • Provide immediate supervision, training, and competency assessment for laboratory staff and students
  • Support implementation and validation of new instrumentation and methodologies
  • Ensure accreditation readiness and compliance with regulatory standards
  • Order proficiency testing surveys and ensure accurate data submission
  • Collect, analyze, and document performance improvement (PI) data
  • Maintain current departmental policies and procedures and ensure timely completion of electronic documentation
  • Demonstrate fiscal responsibility in laboratory operations
  • Foster a collaborative, high-quality, patient-centered laboratory environment
