About The Position

The Senior Medical Equipment Planner provides strategic leadership for the planning, specification, budgeting, procurement coordination, and integration of medical equipment across healthcare projects. This role supports new construction, renovations, and infrastructure upgrades, ensuring equipment solutions align with clinical workflows, facility design, regulatory requirements, and long-term operational objectives. As a medical equipment planner, you will lead the planning, specification, and integration of medical equipment for hospitals and health systems. You will work closely with engineers, architects, clinicians, and executives to ensure equipment solutions align with clinical workflows, facility design, and operational needs, supporting safe, efficient, and effective patient care. At St. Onge, you will partner with leading healthcare institutions across the U.S. and globally to deliver successful equipment planning outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, engineering, architecture, industrial design, nursing, biomedical engineering, or related field.
  • 8 -10 years of job-related experience.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to manipulate data in databases and spreadsheets.
  • Experience working on healthcare new construction projects.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Experience with BIM/Revit and AutoCAD coordination.
  • Experience with Attainia or similar medical equipment planning software.

Responsibilities

  • Lead comprehensive medical equipment planning for complex healthcare projects (acute care hospitals, ambulatory facilities, specialty departments).
  • Facilitate equipment planning workshops and stakeholder reviews.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for medical equipment during design, construction, and transition to operations.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, and designers to ensure accurate space planning, clearances, power/data needs, and building systems compatibility.
  • Support procurement strategies including bid evaluation, vendor coordination, and capital approvals.
  • Oversee equipment installation planning, logistics, commissioning, and readiness for occupancy.
  • Support transition planning, equipment move-in and go-live activities.
  • Support sales and business development activities, including: Assisting with proposal development, scopes, and fee estimates. Participating in client interviews and pursuit presentations. Providing technical input and staffing approaches for pursuits.
  • Lead the development of planning standards, templates, and best practices.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level analyst and planners.
  • Contribute to recruiting, onboarding, and professional development efforts within the practice.
