About The Position

The Senior Medical Dosimetrist-Certified is a member of the radiation oncology team who has expert knowledge of the overall characteristics and clinical relevance of radiation oncology treatment machines and equipment, with a specialized focus on O-ring systems such as Ethos and Halcyon. This role is cognizant of procedures that are more complex than routine radiotherapy and requires advanced education and expertise necessary to generate and oversee adaptive, and complex radiation dose distributions and dose calculations in collaboration with the medical physicist and radiation oncologist. The Senior Medical Dosimetrist-Certified will also spearhead the implementation of new treatment planning techniques, mentor and teach other staff, manage routine updates to planning protocols, and actively participate in departmental research.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Sciences degree with a major in the physical or biological sciences or is a registered radiation therapy technologist.
  • Completion of two or more years on-the-job training and work experience in medical dosimetry under the supervision of a Certified Medical Dosimetrist or Medical Physicist.
  • Two years of experience as a Medical Dosimetrist.
  • One year of hands-on experience with O-ring LINAC systems (e.g., Varian Ethos, Halcyon) and their respective treatment planning software.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a clinical setting, including mentoring, training, or leading projects.
  • Ability to understand technical aspects of radiation oncology and medical physics.
  • Ability to perform routine duties independent of supervision.
  • Ability to operate and perform quality assurance on the treatment planning computer.
  • Working knowledge of radiation safety and current rules and regulations of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
  • Ability to interpret and execute treatment plans as defined in relevant treatment protocols.
  • Mathematical skills including algebra, trigonometry, and introductory calculus.
