As a Senior Medical Coder at R1 RCM, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate medical coding and billing for clients, optimizing revenue cycle management. This position involves reviewing production and quality reports, providing feedback to coding teams, and ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and regulations. You will also assist in developing coding policies and procedures, making it essential to have a strong background in medical coding and relevant certifications.

Review productivity and quality reports to ensure accurate and compliant coding practices according to current coding guidelines, regulations, and best practices.
Fill in coding production gaps as needed by assigning codes for diagnoses, treatments, and procedures according to the appropriate classification system.
Identify coding discrepancies and provide feedback to coding staff to improve accuracy; offer ongoing guidance to clinical staff and internal departments on trends.
Assist in developing and implementing coding policies and procedures in collaboration with clinical and coding teams.
Abide by the Standards of Ethical Coding as set forth by AHIMA and AAPC.

High school diploma or GED.
AAPC or AHIMA Certified coding professional: CPC, CCS.
Strong understanding of medical terminology and healthcare documentation.
In-depth knowledge of coding guidelines including ICD-10, HCPCS, and CPT and E/M coding as demonstrated through work experience as a medical coder in multiple specialties.
Ability to navigate Cerner and use Excel for reporting and data analysis.
