About The Position

ChristianaCare Pulmonology at Elkton practice is looking for a Medical Assistant II. ChristianaCare Pulmonology at Elkton is located at 111 West High Street, Suite 203 in Elkton, Maryland. Pulmonology at Elkton specialists provide advanced, patient-centered care across Delaware and Maryland, including in-person and video visits. Our team offers comprehensive expertise in diagnosing and treating a wide range of lung conditions, supported by collaborative care and state-of-the-art technology. As the Medical Assistant II, will focus on ensuring high-quality patient care. Responsibilities include assisting healthcare providers during examinations and treatments for both virtual and on-site appointments. The Medical Assistant II entails taking on a leadership role, mentoring office staff, and facilitating various operational functions and duties within the practice. The Medical Assistant II will serve as the sole MA supporting three part-time pulmonary providers.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED required.
  • A graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant Program and hold current Medical Assistant Certification by a national organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) or obtain within three months of hire.
  • Two years’ experience as a Medical Assistant, is required

Responsibilities

  • Rooming patients
  • Recording vital signs
  • Performing point of care testing
  • Administering injections and medications
  • Performing EKGs according to practice needs
  • Assisting clinicians during examinations and procedures
  • Preparing treatment rooms with necessary supplies
  • Completing patient-specific paperwork
  • Ensuring all pertinent test results are up to date for upcoming patient visits
  • Providing adequate coverage amid staff shortages
  • Participating in new hire orientations and educational initiatives as directed
  • Handling patient callbacks as instructed by providers
  • Adhering to state guidelines for sterilization of medical equipment
  • Managing prior authorizations, referrals, medical refills
  • Scheduling tests, procedures, and surgeries
  • Conducting quality control of all POCT equipment
  • Assisting providers with documentation during examinations
  • Performing clerical duties as assigned
  • Ordering and maintaining clinical supplies
  • Ensuring safe work practices
