About The Position

The Senior Medical Assistant (Sr. MA) at Houston Methodist is responsible for providing high-quality support in patient care and services, particularly in the field of endocrinology. Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent education.
• Five years of medical assistant experience with complex, chronic disease management or in a specialty discipline.
• Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or National Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification from an approved agency.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Nice To Haves

• Phlebotomy Technician Certification (CPT)

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient examinations, procedures, diagnostic studies, and treatment under the supervision of a physician or registered nurse.
• Perform general administrative duties in accordance with CLIA, HIPAA, NCQA, and government standards.
• Schedule patient appointments and verify eligibility for care.
• Act as a preceptor and clinical resource for other medical assistants, providing training and orientation as needed.
• Document patient care and vital signs in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Coordinate care with hospital, emergency department, and community resources as necessary.
• Report observations and abnormal clinical findings to the physician or nurse.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam and treatment rooms.
