About The Position

BerryDunn is seeking an experienced Senior Consultant to join our Medicaid consulting team. As part of our consulting team focused on supporting state Medicaid agencies, you will work within Medicaid policy to help agencies implement new programs and administer their current program. You’ll be the success partner for Medicaid agencies in building healthier communities and stronger futures. You will work remotely, hybrid, or in one of our offices, helping clients nationally. You will report to and partner with management team members and our Medicaid subject matter experts for both client work and career development. With a growth mindset, you will drive your own development and partner with junior staff to support their development. Your initial work will be in support of our client in West Virginia, leading the implementation of a section 1115 waiver renewal and expansion focused on transforming behavioral health services and developing the continuum of care for substance use disorder in that State.

Requirements

  • Drive and initiative.
  • Five or more years working for a state Medicaid agency supporting policy initiatives or consulting with state Medicaid agencies on policy initiatives.
  • Direct experience working with most Medicaid authorities, such as waivers and the state plan, including the implementation and operational phases of 1115 waivers.
  • Experience analyzing regulations and sub-regulatory guidance to inform the direction of the program, along with managing projects and initiatives to implement program changes to comply with the regulations.
  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Public Policy, Health Management, or Public Health, or a similar field, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in relationship building and teamwork; experience working across/ facilitating conversations across multiple state agencies/ external partners to Medicaid.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Substance use disorder/ behavioral health content experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead one or more client policy initiative(s) with a team that will engage in activities such as policy analysis and recommendations, client communications, facilitating client meetings, action item and decision management, deliverable development, and project progress tracking and reporting.
  • Drive your development through an annual process that supports your growth goal in partnership with your supervisor and BerryDunn’s learning and development team.
  • Participate in new business development through activities such as research, supporting proposal content, or developing marketing materials.
