Requirements

  • Typically requires a BA/BS degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience, or an advanced degree with 3 years prior relevant experience.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
  • Experience in product design from concept through production.
  • 3-5+ years of experience with NX design and modeling.
  • 3-5+ years of experience with Teamcenter, ALM, or other PLM applications.
  • 3-5+ years of experience using analysis and modeling tools such as ANSYS, Simulink, and Mathcad.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office productivity tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in a STEM discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical design and analysis of components and assemblies.
  • 5+ years of experience with CAD (NX preferred), FEA, Simulink, and CFD tools.
  • Experience in project management or leading engineering tasks.
  • Familiarity with RTX programs, projects, or systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute to the design, modeling, and packaging of mechanical and electromechanical systems (e.g., rotating machinery, turbines, pumps, gearboxes, flight surfaces, and electronics packaging), generating drawings, specifications, analyses, and technical documentation throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Plan and execute development, acceptance, and qualification testing; define and implement design changes; and support verification, validation, and field issue resolution.
  • Drive multi-discipline mechanical analysis, building models, loads, and boundary conditions to support aerospace, space, and undersea applications.
  • Apply and advance Model-Based Design (MBD) practices across engineering, fostering knowledge-sharing in design and processing with metals, composites, and non-metallic materials.
  • Manage projects aligned with your expertise, take on stretch assignments for larger efforts, and support proposals with system designs, BOMs, and cost/schedule estimates.
  • Partner with vendors and cross-functional teams to ensure product quality, vendor qualification, issue resolution, and successful product acceptance.
  • Lead or support Relentless Root Cause Corrective Action (RRCCA) investigations, ensuring effective solutions to complex engineering problems.
  • Work independently with minimal guidance while contributing to the development and improvement of departmental processes, standards, and work instructions.
