You will be involved in designing and modeling for power plant systems, including steam cycle systems, boiler feed and condensate, and more. This position is located in our District office in Lenexa, Kansas, and we offer relocation assistance.

  • Draft sketches, piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs), plans, sections and details, drawings, equipment layout, and design/model in 3D for power plant systems.
  • Designs include equipment layout and complete mechanical systems, including checking interferences and constructability.
  • Check design deliverables in accordance with industry codes and standards, contract requirements, and company standards.
  • Adhere to schedules and work assignments to ensure successful project completion.
  • Coordinate with other drafters, designers and other team members assigned to a project or task.
  • Train and advise interns or new graduates.
  • Identify changes in the scope of work during a small project and produce design changes as needed.
  • Take the initiative to meet or exceed the quality and expected outcome requirements of internal and external customers.
  • Participate in project meetings as required.
  • At least 8 years' experience in Design and/or Drafting disciplines with a background in Piping and/or mechanical equipment and systems design in a 3D modeling environment.
  • Power generation experience is required.
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Drafting/Design or engineering preferred; minimum High school or GED Diploma.
  • Experience utilizing SmartPlant3D and knowledge of latest computer operating systems and office software.
  • Ability to conceptualize designs/models in a 2D/3D environment.
  • Experience creating P&ID's, plot plans and drawings for construction packages.
  • Ability to work independently with limited direction and oversight.
  • Experience as a piping designer, mechanical equipment designer, senior designer, or Sr. Piping Designer.
