Positions are available for mechanical engineers with 7 or more years of experience in fueling systems or other related industrial-type systems. Burns & McDonnell is considered the leading consultant in the aircraft fueling industry. We are engaged in high visibility projects at major airports and military bases worldwide. Additionally, the fueling business line executes projects for aviation, federal, transport truck and car rental clients, including marine loading facilities, pipeline terminals, truck loading facilities and commercial gasoline stations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program and 7 years of mechanical engineering experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program and successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and 7 years of mechanical engineering experience.
  • Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and 6 years of mechanical engineering experience required.
  • Expert knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical equipment design codes (ASME, ANSI, API, PIP, NACE).
  • Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills, ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • EPC project experience preferred.
  • Experience with leading the discipline design for large projects and delegating work tasks to team members.

Responsibilities

  • Design and construction in one or more of the following industries: Commercial or Military Fuel Systems, Oil & Gas, Water/Wastewater, or Industrial Systems.
  • Engage in high visibility projects at major airports and military bases worldwide.
  • Lead execution of work and resolve issues in a team environment.
  • Perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications.
