About The Position

Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Estimator to lead estimating efforts for large-scale, high-value hyperscale data center construction projects for a key client. This role is designed for professionals with deep expertise in mechanical estimating, advanced cost management skills, and the ability to influence strategic decisions on complex mission-critical builds. As a senior member of our Construction Management team, you will provide leadership in cost consulting, mentor junior estimators, and act as a trusted advisor to clients and project stakeholders throughout all phases of construction.

Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management (technical focus), Quantity Surveying, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in mechanical estimating and cost consulting, with at least 5 years in a leadership or senior role.
  • Proven ability to lead estimating for large, complex projects (data center experience strongly preferred).
  • Hands-on construction experience with mechanical systems (HVAC, piping, etc.).
  • Expertise in managing mechanical subcontractors and understanding scopes, means, and methods.
  • Advanced technical knowledge across all cost management phases: pre-contract, post-contract, and final account.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills in executive-level client environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and estimating software (CostX, WinEst, or similar).
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Navisworks, Bluebeam, and other relevant tools.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Deep understanding of mechanical systems in mission-critical environments, including redundancy, cooling systems, and commissioning.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical estimating strategy from RFP through construction completion for hyperscale data center projects.
  • Develop and present high-level cost plans at conceptual, programming, and design stages, influencing client decision-making.
  • Drive feasibility studies, procurement strategies, and risk assessments for mechanical systems.
  • Oversee procurement activities: pre-qualification, bid analysis, bid reporting, and contract documentation.
  • Validate subcontractor bids and scopes, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project objectives.
  • Manage cost checks, valuations, and change control processes on multi-million-dollar projects.
  • Produce and present executive-level post-contract cost reports to clients and senior stakeholders.
  • Lead value engineering initiatives and negotiate final accounts with authority.
  • Collaborate with project managers and design teams to ensure scope, budget, and schedule alignment.
  • Analyze historical cost data and market trends to support benchmarking and forecasting at a strategic level.
  • Maintain strong client relationships, acting as a primary point of contact and trusted advisor.
  • Contribute to the development of estimating tools, templates, and best practices for hyperscale projects.
  • Monitor market conditions and supply chain trends impacting mechanical systems and materials.
  • Ensure compliance with local codes, standards, and permitting requirements.
  • SOX control responsibilities may apply and must be adhered to where applicable.
