About The Position

Airloom Energy is developing a new generation of renewable energy technology designed to unlock the full potential of wind power. Airloom's turbines are more efficient, can be mass manufactured, and deployed just about anywhere. Backed by leading investors Lowercarbon Capital, Wyoming VC, and Bill Gate's Breakthrough Energy Ventures, Airloom is on a mission to disrupt the wind energy industry and accelerate the adoption of renewable energy. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering principles and a proven track record of designing complex systems for aerospace and industrial applications. The Airloom system needs to perform in all weather conditions and for several years with little maintenance. We are looking for a Senior Engineer that has previous experience designing mechanical systems for our environmental requirements, unique load cases, and efficiently transfer them to simple low cost designs that we will immediate prototype, test and fabricate the full-size project.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in the aerospace or industrial sector.
• Advanced proficiency in 3D CAD software (Onshape and SolidWorks).
• Strong understanding of engineering principles, including mechanics of materials, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and machine design.
• Experience with FEA and CFD analysis tools.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with aerospace or industrial standards and regulations (e.g., IEC, ASTM, ISO, ASME, SAE, FAA).

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative mechanical concepts and solutions.
• Create detailed 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings using Onshape and SolidWorks software.
• Conduct structural, thermal, and fluid flow analyses to optimize designs and ensure performance.
• Oversee the fabrication and testing of prototypes to validate design concepts.
• Work closely with manufacturing engineers to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective.
• Develop comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications, test reports, and engineering documentation.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
