This position serves as a chief technical resource consultant on Mechanical Engineering matters. The Senior Mechanical Engineer plans, performs, and directs a wide variety of difficult field and office mechanical engineering work in the planning, design, specification, estimating, inspection, and construction and maintenance management of various statewide building mechanical systems. The Senior Mechanical Engineer provides assistance to the FMD field staff, investigates, plans, coordinates and directs activities related to the design, repair, replacement or installation of facility mechanical equipment. The incumbent is knowledgeable of elevator systems, HVAC, chillers, boilers, building automation and other systems associated with sustainable building design. This position will act as a lead to unlicensed mechanical engineers and will prepare, sign, seal, and submit engineering plans and drawings as well as coordinate mechanical engineered drawings with other project disciplines for various statewide building projects in accordance with federal, state and local regulations, policies and procedures including DGS and FMD's policies and procedures.
