About The Position

The Senior Mechanical Engineer role requires a minimum of 10 years of experience with a PE in HVAC and/or Plumbing Building Systems Design within the MEP Engineering field. The successful candidate is expected to immediately provide support for all design aspects of assigned projects, demonstrating a strong understanding of Mechanical Engineering in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities include project management from kickoff through construction administration, client interaction, and coordination with other trades. The role demands proficiency in design software and a thorough knowledge of building codes.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience (with PE) in HVAC and/or Plumbing Building Systems Design, specifically in the field of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing) Engineering
  • Strong understanding of the Mechanical Engineering discipline
  • Ability to provide immediate support for a fast-paced department
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD MEP and/or Revit
  • Self-motivated, ability to learn quickly, accept responsibilities and take on new challenges as presented
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable building codes
  • Understands and applies concepts of CHW, HW, WSHP, variable & constant flow systems
  • Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, & Bluebeam
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited 4-year/university preferred

Responsibilities

  • Attend Kick-off meetings with design team, clients and owner to develop a scope of work for project
  • Perform Site visits to determine existing conditions and document all associated systems included in scope of work
  • Provide project management from project kickoff thru construction administration, as needed
  • Convey all information required to internal stakeholders for submissions on all design deliverables
  • Provide consultation on mechanical equipment room sizes during the appropriate design stage
  • Produce & review HVAC Load & Energy calculations
  • Understand and apply concepts of CHW, HW, WSHP, variable & constant flow systems
  • Design HVAC ductwork layouts, ductwork sizing and specify required equipment
  • Perform QA/QC reviews of all calculations by Designers, and provide guidance and mentoring
  • Respond to RFIs for the project, accurately review submittals, and solve installation issues as needed during construction
  • Draft, edit, and review specifications to reflect the project requirements
  • Edit and develop scope of work (basis of design) narratives
  • Attend meetings and communicate clearly and thoroughly with clients and establish their needs and discuss designs and design issues
  • Coordinate and interact with all other trades
  • Meet all deadlines as assigned
