About The Position

JOB LOCATION: Dallas, TX POSITION: Senior Mechanical Engineer POSITION: Manage and execute projects from start to end; Communicate with the client regarding the project requirements and determine the scope of the project; Manage cross disciplinary team to meet the project requirements; Lead design project as a project manager and manage a cross-disciplinary team of engineers and architects to deliver the project on schedule while meeting client requirements; Perform Life Cycle Cost Analysis (LCCA) to determine and compare the total cost including the initial, operating, and maintenance costs to select the major mechanical equipment for the project; Communicate and coordinate with equipment vendors to verify the applicability of the equipment proposed; Perform code analysis using Mechanical and Plumbing codes such as IMC, IEEE, IBC, ASHRAE 90.1, ASHRAE 62.1, California Energy Code (CEC), Title-24 energy code, and NFPA; Coordinate with other disciplines for project completion and lead a multi-disciplinary team for mechanically focused projects; Have communication between internal and external regarding the project status; Coordinate drawings from all disciplines and QA/QC review sets, bid documents, addendum, and construction bulletins to ensure that client’s expectations for drawing quality are fulfilled and also verify whether design documents are accurate, consistent, and suitable for plan check, procurement, and construction; Review and respond to the submittals and RFI’s; Define the scope of the project, writing proposals, change orders, and task orders, etc.; Perform Level 4 and Level 5 commissioning of mission-critical mechanical/HVAC systems, create issue logs, resolve issues in consultation with all parties, and deliver the final product to the client. Up to 50% remote work allowed. Must live within normal commuting distance of the worksite.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field plus 5 years related experience
  • Perform Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modeling for data center airflow, heat transfer, and pressure profile utilizing commercial-grade CFD modeling tools
  • Perform engineering calculations to size chillers, air handling units, computer room air conditioning units, ductwork, piping, etc., to serve mission-critical (very high reliability) telecom and data center facilities
  • Perform Heat Load Calculations using Trane software
  • Perform feasibility studies to determine cooling capacity for mobility sites and also help clients evaluate options for optimization of white space usage in data center facilities
  • Perform master planning studies by collaborating with architects and building operations teams to evaluate future facility growth and provide facility recommendations for upcoming project construction sequences
  • Perform Power Usage Effectiveness optimization for existing data center operations, perform and analyze CFD model, and recommend improvements in setpoints/fan control, hot aisle – cold configuration, changes in system controls
  • Create Computer-Aided Drawings using software tools (AutoCAD, Revit, Solidworks) to aid design and fabrication of mechanical systems
  • Create system layouts and riser diagrams, review building blueprints, and understand mechanical systems
  • Up to 25% nationwide travel required
