About The Position

IMEG is hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Las Vegas, NV, to lead design efforts as a project manager or lead engineer for moderate to complex projects and help deliver larger, high-complexity work with limited support from senior staff. You’ll work closely with a team of engineers and consultants to provide project direction, engineering solutions, and advice to clients to support positive outcomes, with a focus on project management, engineering analysis, design, and implementation oversight of mechanical systems for the vertical building industry. You’ll also support budget management, training and mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration to meet project goals and client expectations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent, required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License required
  • 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting industry
  • Advanced proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
  • Advanced proficiency in technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in thermodynamics, psychrometrics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics relating to mechanical design in HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems
  • Strong training, mentoring and leadership skills
  • Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise
  • Ability to sell work and develop client relationships
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Eagerness to adapt to new challenges
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays

Responsibilities

  • Lead design efforts for the analysis of HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems
  • Create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations using engineering software and tools in accordance with code requirements and IMEG standards
  • Perform site assessments and develop detailed analysis and technical reports
  • Gather project requirements and communicate technical information effectively to support client needs
  • Build and maintain client relationships through professional communication
  • Perform in-process design reviews of HVAC, plumbing and fire protection system design, calculations, specifications, and project correspondence
  • Implement IMEG quality control processes to ensure engineering designs and solutions meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards, and client requirements
  • Provide technical training and mentoring, and assist with resolution of field issues with limited support from senior staff
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices; contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts
  • Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work by identifying and mitigating potential safety risks associated with mechanical systems
