As a Senior Mechanical Engineer & Project Manager , you are a technical leader and strategic thinker responsible for the mechanical design, coordination, and delivery of building HVAC systems. You’ll guide project teams, manage scopes and schedules, mentor engineers, and be a key client point of contact. This role is ideal for candidates who thrive in a consulting environment, enjoy autonomy, and want to take ownership of important MEP engineering decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 7+ years of mechanical engineering experience within an MEP consulting environment.
  • Strong HVAC system design experience across commercial or institutional buildings.
  • Project management experience with responsibility for scope, schedule, and coordination.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit for mechanical system design.
  • Experience producing and reviewing fully coordinated construction documents.
  • Strong understanding of applicable mechanical, energy, and building codes.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across disciplines and communicate effectively with clients and project teams.
  • High attention to technical quality, constructability, and long-term system performance.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead full HVAC system design: air distribution, hydronics, central plants, controls, and specialty systems.
  • Develop mechanical system concepts and basis of design documents that align with performance goals and codes.
  • Serve as technical lead and Engineer of Record where applicable.
  • Manage mechanical scopes from schematic design through construction administration.
  • Coordinate with plumbing, electrical, fire protection, architectural, and structural disciplines.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers and designers.
  • Provide quality control and technical guidance across project phases.
  • Conduct site surveys, field investigations, and existing condition assessments.
  • Prepare and review construction documents, specifications, and technical reports.
  • Provide construction administration support (RFIs, submittals, punch walks), and commissioning oversight.
  • Contribute to proposals, fee estimates, and technical inputs during pursuits.
