About The Position

Senior Mechanical Engineer – Fluence Fluence is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer capable of tackling complex technical challenges and delivering high-quality mechanical design solutions. The ideal candidate will have a broad mechanical engineering background with strong proficiency in PTC Creo (3D CAD), sheet metal design, and AutoCAD, along with hands-on experience in electrical panel design and container/enclosure design. Key Qualifications The preferred candidate will have: A background in Mechanical Engineering and product development within the power conversion and/or renewable energy sector, specifically in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. 5+ years of relevant industry experience. Strong experience in site issue resolution, leading root cause analysis (RCA), and providing solutions to commissioning teams for project-specific issues.

Requirements

  • A background in Mechanical Engineering and product development within the power conversion and/or renewable energy sector, specifically in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

  • Proficiency in sheet metal design
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Hands-on experience in electrical panel design
  • Hands-on experience in container/enclosure design
  • Use MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other standard tools efficiently.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in mechanical design of electrical power equipment, such as electrical panels, control panels, or power converters.
  • Experience in air and liquid cooling system design:
  • Experience with seismic analysis, with familiarity in IEEE 693 and/or ASCE 7-16 requirements.
  • Experience with utility-scale battery energy storage systems.
  • Prior knowledge or experience with Fluence product offerings.
  • Ability to work in alignment with Fluence values: Leading, Agile, Responsible, and Fun.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in project site root cause analysis activities, interface directly with customers, and resolve issues raised during installation and commissioning.
  • Create, review, and update detailed 3D Creo models and AutoCAD 2025 with high proficiency.
  • Provide design engineering support for mechanical components, enclosures, and electrical panels.
  • Manage and support NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports) and Change Management processes.
  • Demonstrate initiative, independence, and sound engineering judgment while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively—both written and verbal—with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Drive solutions on challenging projects, demonstrating ownership, creativity, and innovation.
  • Use MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other standard tools efficiently.
  • Work flexibly across multiple time zones as needed.
