About The Position

Toyon Research Corporation is an industry leader in the areas of complex space and missile systems analysis, aerothermodynamics, payload design and development, and ground and flight testing. Our Aerospace Systems Group provides innovative technical solutions to support aerospace programs for the Department of Defense (DoD) and their agencies. We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead development of advanced electro-mechanical designs from R&D to production. Responsibilities Perform design, development, and testing of mechanical systems for space applications Collaborate with the Program Manager to define project objectives, timelines, and deliverables Lead multidisciplinary teams to optimize system performance and reliability Define system level requirements and translate into concepts and designs Author drawings, assembly documentation, and test plans Work in a team environment involving experts in diverse disciplines (e.g. aerothermal and thermostructural analyses, RF and IR signature effects of materials and configurations, etc.)

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 8 or more years of experience designing mechanisms and structures encountering challenging vibration, shock, and temperature environments
  • Experience with the various elements of mechanical design and drafting, including selection of structural materials, adhesive and fastener selection; AMSE y14.5 and other relevant ASME drafting standards; familiarity with ISO 9001/AS9100/MIL Specifications as they apply to aerospace structures
  • Experience using parametric CAD software to create models of assemblies, parts and drawings. Experience with SolidWorks and / or Creo skills are preferred, with the ability to quickly achieve proficiency in both CAD packages
  • Experience mentoring and providing work leadership to associate mechanical engineers is desirable
  • U.S. Citizenship is Required.
  • Ability to qualify for a US Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance required.
  • Candidate must be SAP and SCI program eligible.
