Position Summary The Mechanical Design Engineering focus specializes in the design and analysis of mechanical systems, equipment, and packaging. Conducts feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs. Directs support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing, and prototype fabrication. Provides design information to drafting for packaging documentation. Job Summary Designs and analyzes mechanical systems, equipment and packaging. Apply in-depth knowledge of scientific and engineering principles in resolving technical problems, investigating technologies, and developing new products. Make independent decisions on research problems, technology investigations and new or improved product development.

Requirements

• 5 to 8 years progressive experience in an electro-mechanical product development environment with a proven track record of accomplishments
• A background in consumer products is desirable
• Familiarity with major 3D modeling software
• A solid understanding of Mechanical Drafting procedures and standards.
• Working knowledge of mechanical design packages (i.e., Solid Works, AutoCad, Solid Edge)
• Ability to interact and collaborate with immediate team, as well and junior and senior colleagues

Responsibilities

• Create documentation (drawings, specifications, ECOs) for electro-mechanical parts and assemblies
• Lead designer of parts and assemblies
• Complete assignments within approved project budget and schedule parameters
• Work as part of a multi-disciplined development team of engineers, designers and technicians
• Maintain proper documentation to substantiate patent applications and provide technical consultation when requested
• Suggest innovations, design improvements and cost reductions for existing products
• Participate in cross-functional design reviews at key milestones during the project life cycle
• Participate in pilot production builds
