About The Position

We are an ambitious, fast-paced startup on a mission to redefine the boundaries between humans and technology. Our team is scrappy, driven, and passionate about creating products that will fundamentally change the way people live and work. We operate on big ideas and agile execution. We’re looking for innovators, builders, and visionaries who aren’t afraid of a challenge and want to get in on the ground floor of building something with a massive impact. If you thrive on seeing your work come to life and want to help shape the future, you’ve found the right place. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Mechanical Engineer to take ownership of critical design projects. In this role, you will be the driving force behind the physical architecture of our products, from initial concept to mass production. You will be responsible for designing, prototyping, refining, and validating deformable electronic interconnects and integrated systems, with a special focus on creating elegant and robust solutions for wearable devices. This is a hands-on role for an engineer who loves to solve complex problems and build tangible, high-quality products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience, with a strong portfolio of successfully launched products.
  • Proven aptitude for developing innovative product solutions and leveraging novel technology to satisfy customer needs.
  • Extensive experience with root-cause failure analysis and technical problem-solving for product design and manufacturing processes development.
  • Experience with design verification and validation.
  • Experience with 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo).
  • Experience in designing for wearable technology, consumer electronics, or other miniaturized, high-volume products is strongly preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with thermoplastic elastomers and familiarity with thin film extrusion, film lamination, and thermal bonding is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Own the Design Process: Lead and own the end-to-end mechanical design for a diverse range of projects, with a strong focus on next-generation wearable devices and consumer electronics.
  • Validate Products and Processes: Develop and execute test plans to validate product designs and manufacturing process innovations against internal and external requirements.
  • Create and Innovate: Develop product solutions by translating abstract concepts into functional prototypes and manufacturable products using 3D CAD and hands-on rapid prototyping.
  • Produce High-Quality Documentation: Develop and maintain meticulous engineering documentation, including detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, bill of materials (BOMs), and comprehensive test plans and test reports.
  • Solve Tough Problems: Apply first-principles thinking and a structured approach to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical challenges throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Drive Projects Forward: Simultaneously manage and drive multiple projects from start to finish in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, ensuring timelines and technical goals are met.
  • Collaborate and Integrate: Work closely with Product Management, manufacturing technicians, test engineers, and external partners to ensure seamless product integration and a cohesive final product.
  • Stay Ahead of the Curve: Research and apply your understanding of industry trends, emerging materials, and advanced manufacturing processes to keep our products at the cutting edge.

Benefits

  • This is a contract position, with the potential to convert to full-time employee.
  • Some travel may be required both domestically and internationally (<3% of the time).
