About The Position

HaloBraid is redefining haircare by building the world’s first intelligent braiding robot, to reduce hair braiding appointment times from hours to minutes. We’ve proven the technology with a working prototype, completed thousands of braids in testing, and we’re nearing the end of R&D. We’re searching for a Engineering Manager / Senior Mechanical Engineer who wants to help bring this future to life. We’re well funded by top tier hardware and consumer investors, recently closing an oversubscribed round to fuel our next stage of growth. You’ll be on the forefront of invention, taking complex mechanisms from prototype to polished product, collaborating with industrial design, and shaping an entirely new category of robotics.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in mechanical design including CAD (Onshape or SolidWorks preferred).
  • Track record of taking products from concept through launch.
  • Collaborative communicator with the ability to clearly convey ideas across disciplines.
  • Excited to mentor, influence, and own outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
  • Hands-on builder with deep intuition for moving mechanisms and mechatronics (motors, actuators, end effectors).
  • Comfortable with DFM and mass manufacturing methods (injection molding, CNC, sheet metal, etc.).
  • Comfortable with rapid prototyping (3D printing, laser cutting, CNC machining).

Nice To Haves

  • Have worked in consumer electronics, especially hairstyling and beauty tools.
  • Have worked in 3D printing, robotics, or complex machine design.
  • Have incorporated simulation (FEA/CFD) into your design optimization process.
  • Have startup DNA—driven, inventive, and energized by collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Architect the design of mechanical systems and sub-assemblies from 3D CAD to production-ready parts.
  • Lead and own: push for elegant and effective solutions, challenge status quo, and drive design forward.
  • Manage and elevate: manage engineers, set best practices and standards, and strengthen our engineering culture.
  • Build, test, and iterate fast: prototype and refine to ensure performance and reliability for professional use.
  • Engineer for scale: apply DFM/DFA principles and collaborate with suppliers to transition designs into volume manufacturing.
  • Bridge disciplines: partner with embedded controls engineers to integrate motion, sensing, vision, and actuation.

Benefits

  • competitive salary
  • 100% medical premium coverage
  • dental and vision benefits
  • flexible PTO
