The Raytheon Hardware Engineering Organization leads the mechanical, electrical and test hardware design, development and production of radar, sonar, missile, and combat system equipment. The Mechanical team uses state-of-the-art tools, processes, technology, and Raytheon’s CORE principles. Mechanical capabilities encompass a broad range of technical disciplines which include engineering, manufacturing, technical services, materials, processes, analysis, test, and documentation. The Radar Mechanical Design Department leads mechanical design, development, and integration of some of the most innovative land-based and shipboard radars in the world. This includes phased array radar systems, electronic modules, pedestals, and power and cooling systems. The department comprises individuals with technical expertise and experience in hardware design, integration, and production support. We have an opportunity for an experienced Senior Mechanical CADD Engineer to support our radar development programs. You will conceptualize, design, integrate, and document mechanical-focused hardware using computer-aided design, mechanical analyses, and consistent coordination and communication across teams to ensure successful hardware performance. This role is on-site at Marlborough, MA or Tewksbury, MA.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience. An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience.
  • Six years or more of design drafting experience in a Mechanical Engineering role
  • Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools, CREO with advanced modeling experience
  • Experience with any Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), tolerance analyses, drawing practices and interpretation (ASME Y-14.5) for mechanical hardware
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in CREO Parametric, CREO View and Model Based Definition (MBD).
  • Experience in PDM/Windchill
  • Experience in multiple CAD Design Tools – SolidWorks/CREO/AutoCAD
  • Solid understanding of configuration management practices
  • Experience military, or aerospace specifications and/or industry design standards
  • Strong technical background with high technical aptitude and attention to detail
  • Very strong communications and interpersonal skills when working with team members

Responsibilities

  • Work with engineers across the business to propose, design, develop, integrate, and document detailed designs of large assemblies and sub-assemblies within the mechanical design department using CREO.
  • Communicate with engineering team members and suppliers to design, model, and document the design technical data package (TDP) and its capabilities and compliance with configuration and drafting requirements.
  • Support development, evaluation, and analysis of mechanical designs.
  • Drawing generation, drawing release, and drawing change incorporation
  • Holding design reviews and resolving action items
  • Overseeing reworks and/or modification procedures
  • Supporting the production floor on a regular basis, collecting issues, providing status and participating in problem resolution.
  • Utilize CREO CAD tool for modeling and documentation creation.
