About The Position

At Pregis, we're looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the development of next-generation industrial equipment. You'll join a collaborative, cross-functional team where your creativity, technical depth, and leadership will directly impact our product roadmap and customer success.

Requirements

  • 5 - 10 years of hands-on experience in machine design, automation, or web handling systems
  • Proven ability to take machines from concept through production - and proud to show your portfolio
  • Strong grasp of mechanical fundamentals: part design, tolerance analysis, FMEA, and DFM
  • SolidWorks proficiency required; AutoCAD Inventor experience preferred
  • Familiarity with electro-mechanical systems, firmware, or software integration is a plus
  • Creative problem-solver with a builder's mindset and a passion for R&D
  • Excellent communicator and collaborator across technical and non-technical teams
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience

  • Experience in packaging, converting, or related industries
  • Project management experience or leadership in cross-functional teams

Responsibilities

  • Lead full lifecycle machine design - from concept sketches to production-ready systems
  • Own multiple projects simultaneously, balancing priorities and driving execution
  • Collaborate with product managers, customers, vendors, and internal teams to define requirements and translate them into high-performance, cost-effective solutions
  • Design, prototype, and test mechanical systems and components using SolidWorks and AutoCAD Inventor
  • Partner with operations and field technicians to refine designs and resolve real-world issues
  • Drive continuous improvement through value engineering, BOM optimization, and engineering change management
  • Stay ahead of the curve by evaluating emerging technologies and integrating them into future designs
