About The Position

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Pittsburgh (Cheswick) location. The role involves designing and analyzing complex electro-mechanical components and systems, conducting studies and testing on new and modified designs, and directing others in the development of design information for use in drawings and specifications. The engineer will serve as a leader for small technical teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering; advanced degree a plus.
  • 10 years work experience dealing with manufacture and design of engineered products.
  • Experience with rotating equipment and machine designs (motors, pumps, generators and propulsors).
  • Finite Element Analysis, Computational Fluid Dynamics, GD&T, CAD systems, CAE systems.
  • Ability to perform analysis and studies with strong attention to details in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to create models and drawings and perform trade studies and design reviews.
  • Must be a sole US citizen and be able to obtain and maintain DOD security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Provides engineering design and analysis to assess new and existing equipment to optimize efficiency, safety, quality, and cost effectiveness.
  • Designs and conducts experiments, collects data, and interprets results, conducts analysis, and writes analysis and test reports.
  • Plans and coordinates the design and analysis of complex engineering solutions including documentation, reporting, publishing, and making technical or other presentations.
  • Designs new equipment and machinery to support program and project needs.
  • Determines technical objectives and develops innovative, practical solutions to advance technical engineering problems.
  • Leads technical teams in design and analytical activities for product design and development and production.
  • Mentors less experienced engineers and is involved in development of their skills.
