Moog Space and Defense Group is looking for a Senior Mechanical Analysis Engineer, to contribute to the conceptual design, analysis, development and testing of complex control systems used on NASA, military, and commercial applications. You'll be responsible for the development of complex space avionics, actuation and mechanisms, propulsion, power, structures, and shock & vibration control. This position requires a high degree of foresight and creativity to anticipate and solve unprecedented engineering problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering with 10+ years' relevant technical experience OR Master of Science Degree in Engineering with 8+ years' relevant technical experience.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, finite element analysis, finite difference analysis, and general material characteristics.
  • Significant experience in structural and/or thermal analysis on high performance mechanical products.
  • Proficient in FEA and other CAE (computer-aided engineering) software such as ANSYS, Thermal Desktop, NASGRO.
  • Familiarity with 3D solid modeling.
  • Self-motivation, critical thinking, and strong analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated strong technical written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work onsite in East Aurora, NY (remote candidates will not be considered).

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the successful development of Mechanical Analysis which may include: Finite element analysis (FEA), finite difference analysis, stress analysis, deflection analysis, thermal analysis, fatigue analysis, fracture analyses, magnetics analysis, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), transient flow analysis and general material characteristics.
  • Validate conceptual problem solutions by performing trade studies and analyses.
  • Advise mechanical tests and correlate analytical models to test results.
  • Prepare customer delivered analysis reports and present at customer design reviews.
  • Be a key contributor preparing successful proposal designs along with cost and schedule estimates.
  • Be considered a technical leader, coaching and mentoring other engineers on teams.
  • Provide input on project processes, strategies, and execution.
  • Operate as a multidisciplinary member of a team of creative, independent individuals.
  • Represent Moog in a manner consistent with its technical and professional reputation.
