About The Position

The Senior Mechanic provides senior level mechanical experience in the installation, repair, and maintenance of stationary plant equipment, vehicle, and heavy automotive equipment. This role is essential for ensuring the safe and operational status of various equipment used by the City of Dallas.

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent work experience.
• Four (4) years experience in automotive or truck repair.
• Valid driver's license with good driving record.
• Must supply own set of mechanic's hand tools.

Nice To Haves

• An associate's degree in automotive technology plus two (2) years of the required experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs skilled mechanical maintenance, inspections, and repairs to the fuel, ignition, electrical, braking, and other systems in automotive equipment and power tools.
• Diagnoses, troubleshoots, and determines maintenance and repair needs across the City and its facilities.
• Inspects and executes repairs, replacements, fabrications, modifications, and installations of various types of equipment.
• Performs state mandated inspections to ensure appropriate work is completed.
• Assists in emergency towing situations and various accident occurrences.
• Completes job tickets, work orders and keeps records of work performed.
• Communicates, engages, and collaborates with a variety of employees, divisions, and parts vendors.
• Trains and educates other mechanics on procedures and methods for repairs.
• Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned.
