KBR's National Security Solutions team provides high-end engineering and advanced technology solutions to our customers in the intelligence and national security communities. In this position, your work will have a profound impact on the country's most critical role - protecting our national security. KBR is seeking a Senior Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) Systems Engineer to join the KBR team in support of a Science and Engineering Technical Support contract for the United States Space Force (USSF). This is a full-time position requiring availability for on-site access to Los Angeles Space Force Base in El Segundo CA, and as-needed remote work flexibility. The Space Systems Command (SSC) Space Systems Integration Office (SSIO) Science & Engineering Technical Support team is looking for an energetic and innovative Senior Model Based System Engineer (MBSE) Systems Engineer to focus on developing government reference and portfolio level architectures aligned with future US Space Force (USSF) force design and enabling enterprise level interoperability and flexibility. The candidate shall provide systems engineering, MBSE, and road mapping support to shape the future of the United States Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Integration Office enterprise architecture. The candidate shall work side by side with SSC personnel in the performance of engineering tasks applying critical thinking concerning solutions to current threat environments for National Security Space (NSS) customers. Experience with Digital Engineering, specifically MBSE, is required to support USSF objective of being the first 'digital force.' Experience in cross-domain architectures is desired to meet the goal of SSC/ZA's cross-enterprise architecting and analysis efforts, providing high quality decision support products to the SSC and USSF senior decision makers for the space acquisition enterprise.

  • Interface with the customer and provide end-to-end mission architecture system capability/requirements to achieve a desired mission effect, physics-based System of Systems performance assessment, digital engineering and modeling support that includes technical and programmatic analysis and assessment related to the integration of space control programs.
  • Conduct and develop products in IPTs and Working Groups that address the design/development, production, and integration of Space Control systems.
  • Build and understand of the adversarial threats-based kill chains facing US space assets.
  • Facilitate/develop/present resolution of issues related to system-of-systems integration.
  • Develop and maintain mission architecture interface requirements for Space Control programs.
  • Perform cross-mission area architecture development through the identification of potential synergies and efficiencies across multiple mission areas based off existing roadmaps and SSC Program Directorate developed architectures.
  • Evaluate and characterize the known trade-space and ensure requirements mapping of newly developed enterprise-level cross-mission area architectures.
  • Develop candidate architectures that resolve common functions into common/enterprise solutions and reduce the cost associated with acquiring and maintaining multiple systems to achieve the same function.
  • Collect, analyze, and report on data collected during system-of-systems integration events.
  • BS in engineering or computer science or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of relevant technical experience in aerospace or engineering.
  • 7+ years of applied experience using Model-based System Engineering (MBSE) tools such as SPARX or CAMEO.
  • Independent problem solving with a variety of mission architecture systems engineering abilities, including knowledge and experience in requirements development and analysis.
  • Ability to work effectively with customers and program stakeholders and have robust written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with project management and collaboration tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Active TS/SCI is required to be considered for this position.
  • Master's degree in engineering.
  • Experience with classified programs.
  • Mission Engineering experience is a plus.
  • Space system design, development, production and acquisition experience.
  • Experience with technical mentorship.
  • Object Management Group Certified Systems Modeling Professional (OCSMP) Level 1/2.
