About The Position

The United States Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command (SSC) Vulcan Launch Operations (LE) at Los Angeles Space Force Base, California is searching for a Senior Materiel Leader (NH-1101-04, GS 14/15 equivalent). If selected, you will serve as Senior Materiel Leader, Vulcan Launch Operations. You will join a dynamic leadership team in the Assured Access to Space - Launch Execution Delta, providing national security space launch (NSSL) services to our nation and allied partners. This specific role requires strong leadership skills, astute attention to detail, creative problem solving, and a collaborative motivation to achieve mission success across a diverse, geographically separated stakeholder team. You must also possess launch vehicle technical acumen and ability to execute decision making on console for launch operations as a certified Mission Director (MD). You must be able to work independently; planning, organizing and coordinating programmatic actions across various engineering, financial, legal, security, public affairs and contracting offices, both internal and external to Space Systems Command (SSC), USSF. Strong communication skills are critical, both oral and written, with a focus on clear, concise and technically accurate dialogue that synchronizes efforts across more than 30 government and contractor organizations. In addition, the duties of this position require the ability to analyze, negotiate, and resolve complex issues while maintaining good working relationships. Finally, as part of our leadership team, you are expected to train, develop, mentor, and motivate junior civilian and military program managers and engineers.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret clearance.
  • Experience in managing a high-performing workforce.
  • Extensive Space/Air Force experience with launch requirements and operations.
  • Knowledge of acquisition management processes and regulations.

  • Master's degree.
  • Defense Acquisition University (DAU) certification in Program Management or Engineering.
