Job Description We are seeking a Materials Engineer with a broad technical background to support the selection, modification, improvement, and troubleshooting of diverse metal processes used in industrial products. You will serve as a technical subject matter expert, defining critical requirements for new metal processes and collaborating closely with engineers and scientists to evaluate material properties and ensure process integrity. You will work hybrid from Milwaukee, WI and report to the Manager, Chemistry and Materials Engineering.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field

  • The ability to travel up to 20% of the time.

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Degree in Materials Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Science
  • Minor or second degree in Chemistry or a closely related discipline
  • General understanding of instruments used in qualification testing Ex: SEM, XRF, Microscopy, Salt fog, Hardness
  • Knowledge of plastic molding processes and materials.
  • Experience with industrial product development.
  • Familiarity with quality systems and process control methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a materials technical contact for new and existing metal processes.
  • Define, maintain and create material and process specifications.
  • Analyze materials in a laboratory setting to troubleshoot issues and optimize performance.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams, including Sourcing, Supplier Quality and Manufacturing, to evaluate material properties, help optimize processes, and ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Familiarity with the common metal forming, heat treating, and joining processes, including plating & coating technologies.
  • Work with understanding critical-to-quality process parameters.
  • Ability to interpret, apply, and maintain material and process specifications.
  • Strong analytical skills for material evaluation and process improvement.
