If this sounds like an environment you would thrive in, we have an exciting opportunity for Senior Materials Engineer in the Product Engineering (Materials and Fuel Rod Design) group within Nuclear Fuels and Component Engineering group. Your Day-to-Day responsibilities will include applying knowledge of materials science to support the development of materials for nuclear applications, translating engineering requirements into test plans, development and execution of test plans and preparation of engineering analyses, calculations, and reports. You will bring engineering rigor to the resolution of problems, requiring prior knowledge and/or literature review within your given discipline. Additionally, you will verify the work of other engineers on assignments that range from basic to complex, providing technical guidance and direction while collaborating with other entities such as national laboratories, universities, and industry groups. You will support the development of advanced materials and manufacturing processes, as well as hands-on material testing programs in a test lab environment. Testing will range from mechanical testing, autoclave corrosion testing, and materials and chemical characterization. You will interface with customers, national labs, and universities for collaborative development programs to develop advanced materials and work with external testing laboratories. Participation in multi-discipline groups or teams to accomplish desired business objectives will also be part of your role. Conducting statistical analysis of test data results and developing and delivering presentations to communicate status, problem resolution, or promote related business products will be essential tasks in this position.
