About The Position

What is the Opportunity? RBC is seeking a highly motivated individual to contribute to key initiatives in the Market Risk Regulatory Initiatives team. This role will focus on controls and issues oversight while driving process enhancements across the Market Risk function. The ideal candidate will bring strong programming and analytical skills, keen attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This role requires comfort working under pressure and presenting to senior management. What will you do? Monitor controls and issues across Market Risk function and track remediation efforts. Develop Python and SQL based scripts and automation tools to streamline controls and issues oversight, reducing manual effort and improving accuracy. Participate in control testing and validation activities, document findings, and support resolution of identified issues. Report on the progress of remediation actions and process improvement initiatives to stakeholders. Collaborate with Market Risk, Front Office, Finance, Operations, Capital, and IT stakeholders to monitor, identify, escalate, and resolve issues efficiently. Assist in designing and implementing new controls and processes to meet enterprise and regulatory requirements. Analyze market risk metrics and reports to identify and investigate data anomalies and control exceptions. Create clear and concise written communications and presentation materials for governance committees, working groups, and senior management. Prepare supporting documentation including process flow diagrams, system lineage documentation, and control testing evidence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience at an Investment Bank with exposure to Market Risk.
  • Knowledge of trading products (equities, fixed income, derivatives) and market structure.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., Python, Excel, SQL, Tableau, or similar platforms).
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to work with large datasets, identify trends, and troubleshoot data quality issues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to create clear documentation and executive-ready presentations.
  • Autonomous and highly motivated; able to multi-task, manage priorities independently, and collaborate across teams.
  • Attention to detail, and able to work effectively under pressure.
  • Comfort translating complex regulatory and technical concepts into clear, actionable messages for diverse audiences.
  • Good understanding of Governance, Risk, and Compliance framework.

  • Knowledge of Market & Counterparty Credit Risk, and related regulatory frameworks.

  • The expected salary range for this particular position is $85,000-$145,000 (New York), depending on your experience, skills, and registration status, market conditions and business needs.
