About The Position

UPS Capital is the financial services branch of UPS, established to meet the financial needs of businesses while accelerating money and protecting goods through their supply chains. By combining financial services with all other UPS capabilities, UPS Capital creates a key link in the UPS global commerce synchronization strategy. Under general supervision and direction, the Marine Adjuster resolves all Ocean & Inland Marine claims by investigating losses, negotiating settlements, presenting evidence in legal proceedings while maintaining adequate production and quality levels. This position will also be responsible for entering alphabetic, numeric, or symbolic data from source documents a web-based database. Compare data entered with source documents, corrects entered data if necessary. May compile, sort, and verify accuracy of data to be entered.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National of the U.S., an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. for this employer
  • Employer will not sponsor a visa for this or future positions
  • Must be currently located in the same geographic location as the job or willing to relocate yourself.
  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiently in Microsoft Office Suite

Nice To Haves

  • Previous claims experience is preferred but not required.
  • Adjusters license as required by state and local jurisdictions (will be gained in role)

Responsibilities

  • Examines claim forms, policies and endorsements, and other records to determine coverages as outlined in (ISMS)
  • Requesting and obtaining additional information in relation to claim investigation
  • Settles claims by determining insurance carrier liability, insurance policy, issuing settlement checks, disposing of salvage, pursuing subrogation when appropriate.
  • Maintains company reputation and integrity of insurance products by complying with federal and state regulations and service standards.
  • Presents evidence at legal proceedings, producing products and other documents as evidence.
  • Maintains expected case load.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge through continuing education.
  • Participates in special projects or performs duties in other areas as requested.
  • Maintain acceptable product quality through compliance with service standards and internal quality control initiatives.
