Senior Manufacturing Technician

NeuroBionicsBoston, MA

About The Position

NeuroBionics, a neurotech MIT spinoff, is developing implantable devices that interface with the human body to treat neurological conditions. Leveraging a decade of innovation, we have engineered a novel neural interface using microscale, flexible, bioelectronic fibers that seamlessly integrate with the human body. Each fiber encompasses electrical, chemical, and optical capabilities—enabling sensing and modulation of the biological environment. By making neural interfacing minimally invasive, we aim to broaden access to neuromodulation therapies and improve the lives of millions of patients. About the Role NeuroBionics is hiring a Senior Manufacturing Technician to be a hands-on “player-coach” on our build line. You will independently execute assembly, inspection, and test execution, run reliability tests, and maintain strong receiving, cleaning, and handling discipline. You’ll also help scale output by training operators and bringing process improvement ideas to Quality and R&D/Engineering—improving yield, reducing variation, and accelerating throughput without compromising quality. This is a bench-forward role for someone who takes pride in disciplined execution and who enjoys improving how work gets done in a fast-moving med-device startup. Location: On-site in Cambridge/Somerville, MA.

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience as a manufacturing technician/operator in medical devices or similarly controlled hardware production.
  • Strong hands-on assembly skills; comfortable with precise work and small parts.
  • Experience executing inspection and test procedures, recording results, and maintaining traceability.
  • Comfort creating and operating within SOPs, travelers, controlled documentation, and revision-controlled builds.
  • Able to train others and hold a high bar for standard work.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience running reliability or verification tests (environmental/aging/soak, mechanical, electrical, etc.).
  • Familiarity with basic quality workflows (nonconformances, rework vs scrap, quarantines/holds, lot/serial traceability).
  • Experience in controlled environments (cleanroom, contamination control).
  • Comfort with basic data capture tools (Excel/test logs) and simple fixture upkeep.

Responsibilities

  • Build & integrate hardware: Execute higher-skill assemblies with strong craftsmanship and consistency; follow travelers and revision-controlled builds.
  • Run inspection gates: Perform incoming/in-process/final inspection per defined methods; document clearly; flag defects early and coordinate with Quality/Engineering.
  • Execute tests + reliability: Run functional and reliability protocols; maintain fixtures/setups; capture data rigorously; escalate failures with evidence.
  • Own receiving/cleaning discipline: Support receiving verification, labeling, organization, and hold/quarantine routing; maintain contamination/handling discipline (ESD/cleaning as applicable).
  • Train and coach operators: Train to SOPs/standard work; create checklists and “golden build” references; coach on pace and quality mindset.
  • Drive continuous improvement: Identify yield loss/rework/variation/cycle-time waste and bring structured improvement proposals to Quality + Engineering; support implementation (SOP updates + retraining).

Benefits

  • Competitive and experience-guided compensation and meaningful equity stake
  • Full benefits plan including
  • Health, dental and vision insurance covered at 100%
  • Health Reimbursement Account
  • Parental & Medical Leave
  • Life and Long-term Disability insurance
  • 401(k)
  • Health & wellness benefit
  • 3 weeks flexible PTO + 1.5 week company shutdown
  • Opportunity to learn and work for a fast-growing, VC-backed, MIT-spinoff on one of the most impactful problems that can change lives
