About The Position

The 3rd Shift operates Sunday night through Friday morning, from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM, with overtime as business needs require. As a Fabrications Support at Caterpillar Inc., you will directly support Manufacturing Engineers and fabrications on the plant floor through the design and documentation of layout, tooling, fixtures, handling systems, safety, and ergonomics, along with other duties to support production planning.

Requirements

  • Fabrications Planner function requires a 2 year degree or equivalent or 4 yr degree.

  • Mechanical/Assembly Experience.
  • Operations/Industrial Planning Experience.
  • Basic knowledge of GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing).
  • Auto CAD experience.
  • Basic 3D modeling experience.
  • Welding/Fabrication experience.
  • Understanding of the manufacturing planning systems.
  • Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to perform repetitive operations.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide production support to the line as needed, including hydraulic troubleshooting, fixture troubleshooting, preventative maintenance tools, and tooling calibration.
  • Develop final work orders which detail processing steps and procedures, identify component parts, specify technical aspects of part installation or application, and identify tooling or fixtures required for production.
  • Perform changes and updates to standard work schedules and other relevant assembly procedures based on Engineering input.
  • Create documentation or requisitions required for both capital and expense budget accounts.
  • Follow and utilize Caterpillar Production System principles of 5S, Continuous Improvement Idea Reporting, Waste Elimination, Standard Work, PFMEA’s, SFMEA’s, and control plans.
  • Rely on independent decision-making and problem solving to complete job tasks.
  • Meet deadlines.
  • Multitask and prioritize work.
  • Use Engineering prints and release notices to develop production operation sequence and documents in the fabrication routing system.
  • Develop layouts using CAD system and identify material locations.
  • Utilize systems such as CAD, Bin System, and Team Center.
  • Communicate cross-functionally to complete tasks.
  • Provide summaries to leadership.
  • Act as a contributing team member.
