About The Position

The Sr. Manufacturing Process Engineer – Warehouses will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of Saronic’s warehouse and material handling processes. This role blends engineering, operations, and systems thinking to ensure that our warehouses are not just storage facilities, but strategic enablers of speed, accuracy, and cost efficiency across the production lifecycle. You will own the physical and digital architecture of Saronic’s warehouse operations, ensuring seamless material flow from suppliers to production lines, outfitting bays, and final assembly.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in warehouse design, material handling, or manufacturing process engineering.
  • Demonstrated expertise in warehouse layout, space utilization, and process optimization.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP/WMS systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, DELMIA, etc.).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, startup-like environment with evolving requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or Operations.
  • Experience in defense, aerospace, shipbuilding, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with DoD/DFARS compliance for material handling and traceability.
  • Experience implementing automation/robotics (AGVs, AMRs, conveyors, robotic picking).
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement warehouse layouts, including racking, shelving, staging, and work areas.
  • Define material flow strategies to support assembly, outfitting, and sustainment operations.
  • Specify and integrate material handling equipment (carts, lifts, conveyors, AGVs/AMRs).
  • Partner with Facilities and Safety teams to ensure compliance with OSHA, DoD, and site requirements.
  • Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for receiving, kitting, staging, and shipping.
  • Apply Lean / Six Sigma methodologies to reduce waste and optimize throughput.
  • Lead kaizen events and continuous improvement projects in warehouse operations.
  • Perform time studies, line balancing, and bottleneck analysis to support production ramps.
  • Configure and optimize Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) within Saronic’s ERP/MES environment.
  • Champion the use of digital tools (barcode/RFID, IoT sensors, real-time tracking).
  • Define system requirements for traceability, serialization, and defense compliance (ITAR, DFARS).
  • Act as the technical authority for warehouse and material movement processes.
  • Train and mentor warehouse staff and production support teams.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain, Manufacturing Engineering, and Program teams to align material strategies with build schedules.
  • Interface with senior leadership on warehouse capacity planning and investment roadmaps.
