As a Senior Manufacturing Planning Specialist, you’ll utilize your skills and talents to represent the production and material planning function on concurrent engineering teams. Essentially, you’ll compile and monitor monthly production schedules, create complex material structures in the material planning tool and identify process flow improvements and implement. You’ll also prepare labor and material forecasts as requested and interface periodically with supply chain or suppliers on delivery issues and problem resolution. Overview: the Manufacturing Planning specialist will be responsible for the planning of production builds across multiple programs, both on-site and supporting activities at non-Manufacturing sites the department supports. This position will develop and maintain material status, work-in-progress status, delivery status and present the data to the cross-functional teams. The Manufacturing Planning Specialist will be embedded with the Deputy Program Manager of Operations, Material Procurement Specialist and Manufacturing directly on a daily basis, working to release assemblies to the production floor to meet program needs. Additionally, this role will have interact directly with Engineering, Quality, Logistics and the Program Office.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree
  • An exceptional understanding of bill of material concepts and methodologies
  • Solid understanding of the proposal process for both material and labor estimating
  • Extremely proficient with material planning tools
  • Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire. Candidates must be able to obtain a Secret clearance within a reasonable amount of time from date of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and fully understand Supply and Demand relationships in MRP System for each program (IFS)
  • Maintain and fully understand BOM (Bill of Material) for each program within the MRP System (IFS)
  • Maintaining the parent/child and make/buy relationship for each BOM component within IFS
  • Release purchase requisitions to the SCM buying team on time, taking into account material lead times and assembly need dates
  • Prepare material status based on indented BOM to understand material clear dates for each level of assembly
  • Present status weekly to Deputy Program Manager of Operations and Program Office
  • Work closely with Material Procurement Specialist to develop need dates for assembly activities
  • Release shop orders to manufacturing to maintain the MPS (Master Production Schedule)
  • Identify material issues early to allow time to resolve
  • Maintain and track all material changes for both Make and Buy components and flow down changes to procurement and manufacturing
  • Work with Deputy Program Manager of Operations to identify opportunities to build early
  • Maintain NHA (Next Higher Assembly) and WIP (Work In Progress) status
  • Routinely maintain shop orders, purchase requisitions and BOM's within IFS
  • Work with Manufacturing Engineering to develop shop order operations for each assembly
  • Work with Quality Engineering on quality flow downs to suppliers and the manufacturing floor
  • Assist Material Procurement Specialist with material coordination
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing Operations on capacity and build schedules
  • Work to identify material opportunities; transferring vs procuring
  • Resolve discrepant material occurrences with Material Procurement Specialist and Deputy Program Manager of Operations
