The Senior Manufacturing Operations Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating manufacturing processes, ensuring efficiency, quality, and compliance within a unionized environment. This role involves managing multiple functions, including sheet metal, welding, grinding, CNC machining, manual operations, inspection, tooling, and maintenance. Responsibilities: Production Management: Develop and execute production schedules to meet demand and quality standards. Oversee sheet metal fabrication, welding, grinding, and CNC machining processes. Ensure efficient utilization of resources (machinery, labor, materials) to optimize production output. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve process efficiency and reduce waste. Collaborate with the Production Planner to optimize operational efficiency and capacity in alignment with the daily production schedule. Expedite orders in a timely, efficient, and productive manner to meet daily production requirements. Quality Assurance and Inspection: Implement quality control procedures for sheet metal, CNC, and manual operations. Conduct regular inspections to verify compliance with specifications and standards. Address any non-conformities promptly and drive continuous improvement. CNC Machines and Tooling: Knowledge of Managing CNC programming activities, ensure accurate tool paths and efficient machining. Optimize tooling strategies for productivity and quality. Collaborate with engineers and technicians to troubleshoot CNC-related issues. Sheet Metal Fabrication: Establishes goals, sets priorities and coordinates all related activities within the team to drive focus towards meeting or exceeding established common business objectives from the Site Goal Tree and Strategic plant plan Provides leadership guidance during Gemba walks Manages team KPIs and trends Conducts fact-based analysis using lean techniques to create value, eliminates waste and drives continuous process improvement related to safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and productivity Aggressively lead the fabrication and tooling organization consisting of hourly production technicians, tooling engineers, skilled tradesmen, and fabrication process Maintenance and Equipment Management: Develop preventive maintenance schedules for machinery and equipment. Coordinate repairs, upgrades, and replacements as needed. Ensure safe working conditions and compliance with safety regulations. Union Relations: Work closely with union representatives to address labor-related matters. Negotiate labor contracts, resolve disputes, and maintain positive relations. Ensure compliance with union agreements and policies. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and productivity enhancement. Implement Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives. Foster a culture of innovation and adaptability. Collaborate with Industrial Engineering to enhance capacity and improve operational efficiency across all departments.
