About The Position

Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is looking for a Senior Manufacturing Manager (Level L) to support the Actuation Systems team onsite in Portland, Oregon. A manager in this role will develop cross-functional partnerships to achieve team and program goals while developing a work environment that promotes accountability, trust, teamwork, quality and safety.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience with metals fabrication and machining.
  • 3+ years of experience leading cross-functional teams.
  • 3+ years of experience with aerospace, fabrication, or manufacturing.
  • Willing to work flexible hours, including on call support as needed (including overtime and occasional weekends as required by production schedules).

Nice To Haves

  • 75 - 150 average size of program managed.
  • 5+ years of experience as a machinist in the aerospace or automotive industry.
  • 3+ years of experience driving lean machining processes and continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., setup reduction, OEE improvements, TPM).
  • 3+ years of experience coaching and mentoring leaders and technicians in a high-precision, rate-based manufacturing setting.
  • 3+ years of experience navigating complex cross-functional environments, balancing engineering requirements, quality constraints, and schedule pressures.
  • 1+ years of experience working as a Senior Leader or Senior Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates and holds teams accountable to Boeing's Values and Behaviors, fostering a culture of safety, quality, integrity, and inclusion on the machining floor.
  • Leads, develops, and motivates machining employees and first-level managers across multiple machining disciplines (e.g., precision milling, turning, drilling, and complex assembly).
  • Inspires a shared sense of urgency and ownership to meet aggressive production schedules in a dynamic, rate-driven environment.
  • Manages teams executing operations for flight-critical components with tight tolerances and high regulatory oversight.
  • Coordinates daily priorities, removes roadblocks, and ensures disciplined execution across shifts and work centers.
  • Develops and executes integrated machining departmental plans, policies, and procedures.
  • Provides input on business and technical strategies that drive safety, compliance, quality, delivery, and cost performance.
  • Aligns machining strategies to rate readiness and program objectives.
  • Acquires and allocates resources (people, machines, tooling, and capital) to support current production and future growth.
  • Leads lean process improvements to optimize machine utilization, reduce cycle time, and eliminate waste while maintaining regulatory compliance.
  • Builds strong partnerships with engineering, quality, supply chain, industrial engineering, and operations teams to proactively solve issues and drive first-time quality.
  • Acts as a key escalation point to quickly resolve machining nonconformances and constraints.
  • Provides oversight and approval of machining technical approaches, processes, and work instructions to ensure compliance with specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Champions adherence to standard work and process discipline on the shop floor.
