About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager oversees the engineering department, ensuring the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes that meet aerospace quality and precision standards. This role bridges technical leadership and strategic management to drive operational excellence, innovation, and compliance with industry regulations (e.g., AS9100, NADCAP).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field or a HS Diploma/GED with 4 years of Manufacturing experience
  • 5+ years of experience in precision machining for aerospace or defense.

Nice To Haves

  • Deep knowledge of CNC machining, GD&T, CAD/CAM (Mastercam, NX, CATIA), and ERP/MRP systems.
  • Familiarity with FAA, DoD, and ITAR compliance regulations.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects.
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
  • Established project management skills.
  • Experience with 5-axis machining and exotic materials (e.g., Inconel, Titanium).
  • Lean Six Sigma certification (Green/Black Belt).
  • Knowledge of digital manufacturing (Industry 4.0, smart factory integration).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership Develop and execute engineering strategies aligned with company goals.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve product quality, reduce costs, and optimize throughput.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and make recommendations for investment or adoption.
  • Technical Oversight Oversee CNC programming, tooling design, process engineering, and NPI (New Product Introduction).
  • Ensure engineering documentation (CAD/CAM, routers, BOMs, etc.) meets internal and customer standards.
  • Collaborate with Quality and Production to resolve technical challenges.
  • Team Management Mentor and develop engineering staff; ensure training on latest tools and aerospace manufacturing best practices.
  • Lead performance reviews, hiring, and organizational planning.
  • Customer and Program Support Act as technical liaison with customers, especially for DFMA feedback and first article inspections (FAIs).
  • Support program management in quoting and technical feasibility analysis.
  • Process Improvement Champion lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Standardize engineering practices and promote automation where applicable.
