About The Position

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer at RTX Corporation is responsible for overseeing the assembly of Focal Plane Modules, providing engineering support to the manufacturing factory, and ensuring compliance with quality standards. This role involves interpreting engineering drawings, creating schedules, managing budgets, and leading problem-solving efforts to enhance manufacturing processes and reduce discrepancies.

Requirements

  • A degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) or a related field with a minimum of 5 years of experience, or an advanced degree with 3 years of experience.
  • U.S. citizenship is required for access to sensitive information.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Knowledge of military and commercial manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with Design for Manufacturability, Six Sigma, and statistical techniques.
  • Experience with mechanical and electronic assembly processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects and work as part of an Integrated Product Team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the assembly of Focal Plane Modules from design implementation to shipment.
  • Provide engineering support for the manufacturing factory and interpret engineering drawings into build plans.
  • Create and maintain Bill of Materials and generate planning documents.
  • Manage process and tooling activities, review and disposition discrepant material, and manage budgets.
  • Conduct operator training and support First Article Inspections to ensure quality compliance.
  • Perform process audits and create/update work instructions for manufacturing operations.
  • Participate in the design of fixtures and tooling to improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Engage with factory leads to address systemic issues and implement corrective actions.
