Provides direction and engineering support for production, testing, and maintenance of a manufacturing operation. Provides engineering support to shop floor. Tests manufactured products to maintain quality. Participates in refinement of engineering systems and processes. Resolves or coordinates the resolution of complex technical issues on the assembly line and in the manufacturing process. Leads technical design, development, and process equipment testing for assigned products. Assists in the preparation of proposals on products for customers. Establishes processes to eliminate defects. Provides continuous improvement to manufacturing process and product designs. The role involves developing manufacturing equipment purchase proposals by studying manufacturing plans and commitments, and evaluating manufacturing processes and requirements. It also includes recommending new manufacturing equipment by identifying vendors and operating equipment, evaluating capabilities and service history, and vendor service and support. The engineer will complete equipment cost projections, monitor installations, and meet production requirements by designing equipment modifications. Training equipment operators and maintaining process integrity through policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines are also key aspects. Finally, the position requires maintaining equipment records and contributing to engineering and organization success.
