The Manufacturing Engineer position develops and implements optimal, cost-effective assembly processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards; recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods and controls; coordinates manufacturing launches for new or revised products; with the manufacturing manager to ensure standards for manufacturing are maintained. Responsible for the monitoring and maintenance of technical aspects of the assembly process, the design and/or validation of equipment, and planning the manufacturing processes in a designated area of the manufacturing plant. Design of manufacturing systems with the focus on continuous improvement related to quality and throughput capability of the assembly equipment. Development of process documentation, including process stack sheets, process routings, PFMEAs, process flow diagrams, and error proofing plans. Analysis of proposals for new machinery and equipment. Lead the tryout and evaluation of new machinery and equipment. Provide technical support to plant operations. Develop and implement major Capital Appropriations Projects. Development of cost estimates for new and major programs, often working from early concept cross sections, concept drawings, concurrent engineering discussions, and evolving assumptions. Provides a physical presence in the workplace. Positions involve the design, procurement, qualification and launch of assembly systems in a high-volume production setting Support of production systems to include continuous improvement, updates to existing equipment to maintain serviceability High level of understanding and experience with torqueing systems, electrical and hydraulic press applications, automatic assembly, error-proofing, vision systems, and robotic applications
