About The Position

This Sr. Manufacturing and Process Engineering role lives in the Manufacturing organization at Dephy, reporting directly to the Head of Manufacturing. This Dephyer can expect to interface with Design Engineering, Marketing, External Contract Manufacturers, and our technician team in various capacities. They will ensure Manufacturing processes, materials, inputs (firmware, hardware, and software), and documentation meet both our internal quality and regulatory requirements. This candidate can expect to be hands-on, repairing units returned from the field, collecting data on failure causes (RCA,) and suggesting and implementing DFM/DFA or QA preventative measures. They will communicate failure metrics early and often alongside our Head of Manufacturing with the Marketing team to inform New Product Development.

Requirements

  • Be a good human—get along with the team, build strong working relationships, and execute on Dephy’s Values.
  • 3-7 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, reliability/failure analysis, supplier quality management, and/or quality engineering
  • Hands-on experience in consumer electronics and/or hardware systems involving mechanical, electrical, and software integration
  • Experience designing and building test setups & fixtures for quality, validation, or reliability testing
  • Experience with Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and driving issue resolution
  • Experience with process validation, statistical process control (SPC), and Design of Experiments (DOE)
  • Strong cross-functional communication and collaboration skills
  • Understanding of DFx (Design for Manufacturing, Assembly, Reliability, etc.)
  • Exposure to Contract Manufacturing and supply chain processes

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Product Development collaboration and providing design feedback from a reliability and/or manufacturing perspective
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools (ex. JMP, Minitab, etc.)
  • Experience managing Contract Manufacturer performance

Responsibilities

  • Create, execute, and refine processes that ensure all customer products meet our internal performance, quality, and reliability goals
  • Drive measurable reliability improvements through detailed Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and other forms of failure analysis, driving effective resolution of design, product, and/or manufacturing issues.
  • Build and maintain process documentation, including FMEAs, RCAs, audit preparation materials, and quality records (internal and with our manufacturing partners).
  • Efficiently organize and oversee unit repair for field returns, collecting, analyzing, and sharing failure trends cross-functionally to drive down repair costs.
  • Support Product Development and give input into our Product & Feature Pipeline.
  • Design & execute performance reliability testing, including design of experiments (DOE), design and build of test fixtures, and any other supplemental testing equipment
  • Interface with Contract Manufacturers to establish and meet cost, quality, volume, and timeliness requirements.
  • Support the Manufacturing strategic partner selection process from a quality and reliability standpoint.
