About The Position

Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support Production Operations for the Long Range Hypersonic Weapon (LRHW) Program in Huntsville, Alabama. In this role, you’ll be a key link between engineering, production, and quality—supporting electro-mechanical assembly, integration, and test operations. You’ll help ensure products are built safely, efficiently, and in alignment with program cost, schedule, and quality commitments. This position offers hands-on involvement in a high-visibility national defense program and the opportunity to directly influence manufacturing processes on the factory floor. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field OR an equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience
  • Experience writing, reviewing, or maintaining manufacturing work instructions or similar production documentation
  • Experience working in a manufacturing, production, or quality environment
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and/or electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications
  • U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain a Secret security clearance
  • Ability to work on-site in Huntsville and Courtland, AL, as program needs require

Nice To Haves

  • Manufacturing experience supporting mechanical or electro-mechanical assembly, integration, and test (AI&T)
  • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Experience supporting Government or DoD customers
  • Familiarity with aerospace or defense manufacturing environments
  • Experience with production planning tools, Bills of Material, routings, or shop floor systems (SAP or similar)
  • Familiarity with Lockheed Martin Space processes and tools (or equivalent industry systems)
  • Active Secret security clearance
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily shop floor support for manufacturing operations, including maintaining manufacturing plans and work instructions
  • Lead and support technical teams to meet engineering requirements, production schedules, and cost objectives
  • Coordinate and implement engineering changes into active production builds
  • Design and improve manufacturing processes, layouts, and workflows for assemblies, tooling, and equipment installation
  • Develop and maintain procedures for tool fabrication, equipment use, and production operations
  • Support layout planning of machinery and workstations to improve safety, efficiency, and production flow
  • Inspect, assess, and help resolve nonconforming or defective hardware
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to improve designs for manufacturability and production efficiency
  • Participate in peer reviews of engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective action efforts in partnership with Quality Assurance
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and repeatability
